LinkedIn, which was purchased by Microsoft in June of 2016 for almost $26 billion is known as the world’s largest and most valuable professional social media network. It currently boasts over 450 million active users (13 million Canadians) spread over 200 countries and 6 continents. People use LinkedIn for everything from networking to job searching to content marketing and all things business related.
The ability for companies to manage their LinkedIn company page has been around since roughly 2011, however many companies chose to stay away from LinkedIn opting instead to focus on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, missing out on the potential value LinkedIn had to offer. Late last year LinkedIn updated the design of their company pages making them easier for companies to manage, analyze and engage.
The automotive manufacturing industry, which had stayed away from social media marketing for years, has now begun to understand the value of updating their LinkedIn company page, especially when it comes to recruitment and corporate culture. This is especially true in Windsor-Essex which is known for its hard-working blue collar workforce that accounts for 20% of all active employment in the area. While researching for this blog, I found no less than 40 LinkedIn company pages in the automotive manufacturing industry in Windsor-Essex alone. Let’s take a look at the 6 that rock.
